If you’ve ever been to the supermarket and visited the wine aisle, you’ll probably have been greeted with hundreds of different bottles of wine to choose from. Choosing a wine can certainly be a daunting task as much of the time, all of the bottles look the same and there is often nothing particularly unique or beautiful about the bottles, labels or the brand logos.
Many of the wine brands stocked by supermarkets are in dire need of a redesign/rebrand but luckily, there are some beautifully-designed wine bottle labels already out there if you look hard enough. These serve as great inspiration.
Below, we’ve rounded up a few of our favourite wine bottle label designs that we feel are exceptionally beautiful and unique.
1. Boarding Pass Shiraz
Boarding Pass Shiraz is a classic yet extremely beautiful and clever wine bottle label. As you can see, the label has been designed to resemble a boarding pass. Instead of featuring flight information though, the label’s details are replaced with details about the wine.
It tells you the grape variety, country of origin and much more. It’s simple, clean and eye-catching to say the least.
2. Holiday Wine
Duffy and Partners created this holiday-themed bottle of wine for the Christmas season. It’s a rather minimalistic design created using subtle illustration(s). The bottle reads “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas” making it the perfect Christmas gift for any wine-lover.
The only problem is the fact it’s a 0% alcohol wine.
3. B Frank Wine
B Frank is another beautifully minimalistic wine bottle label design that doubles as a gift tag. The label reads “B Frank, I’m only drinking with you because _____”. It’s up to the gift-giver to fill in the blank.
It’s a simple and beautiful design that not only makes every bottle unique, but also gives it a dash of personality.
4. TwentyFour Wine
TwentyFour is an absolutely beautiful wine bottle label that has actually been created from elastic bands. Ben Schiller, the designer of the label, wanted to make a statement about the wine by transforming an everyday item (elastic bands) into something beautiful. He says that this reflects a good bottle of wines ability to transform a normal meal into something special.
“TwentyFour” refers to the circumference of the bottle in centimetres.
5. Inkwell Wines
InkWell Wines created this truly stunning label design for their 2007 Shiraz. The design originated from the idea that every bottle of wine has the ability to have a different effect on each individuals taste palette. The inkblot label design asks the drinker “what do you see?” and leaves the wine open to suggestion.
It’s a compelling and simple design that reflects the brand perfectly.
6. Braille Wine
Lazarus created this gorgeous Braille wine label design to allow the drinker to feel what the wine was about, rather than simply read it. For those unable to read Braille, there is a regular English description of the wine on the bottom of the bottle but truthfully, it’s the sense of mystery surrounding this wine that makes it so compelling.
It’s a bold and minimalistic design that also utilises bright colours (i.e. yellow) to ensure that it stands out from the crowd.
7. Dada Wine
This exceptionally beautiful wine bottle label comes courtesy of Dada Wine. It features a beautiful golden logo design written in a stylish and trendy typeface. It’s a minimalistic design and the bulk of the information has been moved to the back of the label to ensure the bottle remains simple and eye-catching.
It comes in its own branded box (featuring the same branding as the bottle).
8. Gut Oggau
This series of wines from The Oggau Estate in Austria assigns a unique face to each bottle, which aims to represent the character of each particular wine in a visual format. Wines are often described as mature, bubbly, complex or even playful and so, these characteristics help to visualise these qualities.
The overall design is minimalistic. The bottles feature a sketched design and a lot of white space.
9. Return of the Living Red
Return of the Living Red is a unique wine created by Redheads Wine. The bottle features a beautifully crafted label tied to the bottle with a small piece of rope. The label is actually an envelope containing information about the wine.
To top it off, the bottle is sealed with a blood red wax seal for added effect.
10. Matsu Organic Wine
Matsu Organic Wine features photographs of the three generations of expertise that have gone into crafting the wine on their respective labels. There are three types of wine and each one features a different family member who best matches the character of that particular wine.
It’s a very simple yet beautiful label design and each photograph has the same distinct look and feel, which makes for a highly-branded range.
11. Laughing Stock
Laughing Stock is a unique wine that has actually been designed and branded to look like a stock symbol (“LFNG”). There is also a “stock ticker” that wraps around the bottle multiple times and displays all the details about the wine.
It’s certainly a unique brand and the execution of the design is perfect.
