6 People Turned Into Anime Characters

“Designers tend to overvalue differentiation and originality. We are taught this in design school. The best solutions are created ex nihilo, break new ground, resemble nothing else in the world. Everyone wants to stand out, or else what’s the point? But this isn’t true. Most people don’t want to stand out. They want to fit in. More precisely, they want to fit in with the people they like, or want to be like.”

– Michael Bierut

American artist Robert DeJesus has one pretty cool project going on. He transforms ordinary photos into anime characters. You can try and get yours commissioned by sending him an email, but you need to abide by the rules “Only style of private, non-commercial, digital file only commissions I’m currently open to, but spots are extremely limited. If you’d still like to try, send a single person, selfie style photo reference to my email and I’ll send you back a price and payment method when a spot becomes available and if I like the photo.

Commission rate begins at twenty dollars for just a digital file version selfie style (from the top of the head to just below shoulders) sketch. Extra fees will apply for these sort examples: how much more the body is included in the photo, special requests like asking to add or subtract things for the sketch, and so on.” For only 20$? You have to be kidding me. That’s incredible cheap. Anyway, take a look at what he has done till’ now!

1. Pikachu has a new trainer

Pikachu is a Pokémon. Ow, please don’t tell me that you’ve never heard of the mythical creatures Pokémon? Well, let me elucidate the mystery for you – “ The concept of the Pokémon universe, in both the video games and the general fictional world of Pokémon, stems from the hobby of insect collecting, a popular pastime which Pokémon executive director Satoshi Tajiri enjoyed as a child.

Players of the games are designated as Pokémon Trainers, and the two general goals (in most Pokémon games) for such Trainers are: to complete the Pokédex by collecting all of the available Pokémon species found in the fictional region where that game takes place; and to train a team of powerful Pokémon from those they have caught to compete against teams owned by other Trainers, and eventually become the strongest Trainer: the Pokémon Master. These themes of collecting, training, and battling are present in almost every version of the Pokémon franchise, including the video games, the anime and manga series, and the Pokémon Trading Card Game. “

2. TMNT has a new trainee

Unfortunately, he didn’t appear in Michael Bay’s new reboot of the Turtles saga, and I say unfortunately because this would have made it tons better than what came out. Don’t waste your time watching that movie, it’s just loads of clichés after clichés. Wait for it to come on Netflix and get your movie buddies all together, so you can laugh and how tremendously stupid this movie is.

3. Brave

Doesn’t she look exactly like Princess Merida from Brave? She even has that all-is-going-to-be-okay smile. So uplifting. “Set in Scotland in a rugged and mythical time, “Brave” features Merida, an aspiring archer and impetuous daughter of royalty. Merida makes a reckless choice that unleashes unintended peril and forces her to spring into action to set things right. “

4. Sailor Moon Vibe

It’s just me or this gal looks so awesomely well like one of the characters from the “ Sailor Moon” series? “A middle-school student named Usagi Tsukino befriends Luna, a talking cat that gives her a magical brooch enabling her to become Sailor Moon: a pretty soldier destined to save Earth from the forces of evil.

Luna and Usagi assemble a team of fellow Sailor Soldiers to find their princess and the “Legendary Silver Crystal”. They encounter the studious Ami Mizuno, who awakens as Sailor Mercury, Rei Hino, a local shrine maiden who awakens as Sailor Mars, Makoto Kino, a transfer student who awakens as Sailor Jupiter and Mamoru Chiba, a high-school student who assists them as Tuxedo Mask. A young, aspiring idol named Minako Aino, who also operates as Sailor Venus, later joins them, accompanied by her feline companion Artemis.“

5. Maleficent

The evil fairy queen portrayed by this beautiful gal, and drawn by the talented Robert DeJesus just makes me want to get creative. I have to get a pen and a sheet of paper and start drawing! “An elderly narrator tells the story of Maleficent, a very strong and powerful faerie living in the Moors, a magical realm bordering a human kingdom. As a young girl, she falls in love with a human peasant boy named Stefan, but his mutual affection for Maleficent is overshadowed by his ambition to become king. As they grow older, Stefan stops seeing Maleficent. After Maleficent defeats the current king in battle when he attempts to invade the Moors, he offers to name whoever kills her as his successor.

Stefan overhears this, goes to see Maleficent and deceives her into thinking that he has come to warn her of the king’s plot. He drugs her and attempts to kill her, but cannot bring himself to do so. Instead, he cuts off her wings using iron (iron burns fairies) and presents them to the king as proof of her death. Maleficent rescues a raven named Diaval to serve as her informant and he reports to her that Stefan has been crowned king. The realization that Stefan betrayed her to gain the throne devastates Maleficent and in retaliation, she declares herself queen of the Moors, forming a dark oppressive kingdom with Diaval as her one companion and confidant.”

6. Upset Kitty

I never had a cat. Never! But I had a pretty close friend that had a kitty cat just like this – a ball of fur looking mean as hell, but the best snuggle buddy in the whole wide world. Don’t let appearances fool you. This one seems to be just waiting to get picked up and hugged. Of course, besides looking like the cutest thing.

Hope you liked Robert’s art, we know we did! If you have anything to add, please do so by posting in the comments section below. We would love to hear from you!
