In the last ten years custom T-shirts have become a significant trend; and there’s a good reason for that: they are awesome. It’s amazingly fun to walk around wearing a custom T-shirt with personal significance. And that is where custom T-shirts excel. They are a fantastic way to commemorate events, achievements, social gatherings, clubs, organizations, and teams. Whether it’s a sports club, corporate gathering, or social affair, custom T-shirts are a great way to celebrate an event. And afterwards everyone gets a fun keepsake, which is a great promotional tool. And because everyone needs to wear clothes, they’re actually useful too. Everyone wins.

The only problem with custom T-shirts tend to be the designs. Because not everyone is a designer, or has the creative tools needed to add the flair required to take full advantage of custom T-shirts, here are some great examples that will help anyone create a memorable shirt to go along with the memorable event. Because the only thing better than a custom T-shirt is a well designed custom T-shirt.

So let’s jump right in:

This is a great example for several reasons. They keep it simple by sticking to one main image, without other graphics modifying the image. This keeps the focus on their main theme, which is the hedgehog. Also, they use interesting text placement, drawing the eye with the off centered top text and the bottom text ‘be afraid’ modifying the image, greatly increasing the humor. Let’s look at another.

This is a great example of how to create a funny and memorable custom tee. It pokes fun at the formality of the event while commemorating it at the same time.

Does anything need to be said about this T-shirt? I think we all know why this one is funny.

This is a great standard sports team custom tee. Between the mud-splattered background, team name pooled in a running liquid and the classic name and numbers on the back, everything is covered. The sport is clear, the team name is there, along with numbers and name. All while keeping it fun and interesting.

This is a great example of an image based shirt. By keeping all the colors consistent there’s no worry of clashing.

This is a great example of a way to make the text stand out. The design is simple and small, so the text pops out thanks to the interesting typeface. Simplicity like this leads to elegant design.

Another great example of standout typeface. With bold lettering, shadowing and color highlighting, the eye can’t help but notice this T-shirt design.

By keeping the designs out of the center of the shirt, the simplicity remains intact. These graphics give the tee a subtle accent – really a great way to make an understated custom T-shirt.

This is an example of sports retro design. The faded image and text on the front it really give the tee that vintage look, along with the block letters and numbers on the back.

This is an awesome use of foreground and background. Putting all the pins (except one) in the background gives a real sense of depth.

Hopefully these will help when you next attempt to make a custom T-shirt. There’ s a style for everyone. Which one suits you best?
