Photoshop Tutorials: Top 6 YouTube Channels to Watch
“A lot of companies have tried to support designers by giving them โa seat at the table.โ What this usually means in practice, however, is that a designer is sitting at the table well after the important product decisions that influence the design have been made. This is usually where complicated and muddy designs are born.”
– Rebekah Cox
Everybody is creative in a way, but not everyone can unleash their creativity and use the correct tools to showcase their true worth. Thatโs why there is no shame in admitting that you need to learn, and develop your skills. But where to start? Youโre not born with this vast library of knowledge at your disposable, but fortunately we live in the era of information โ an era where if you know what youโre looking for, you will find it.
Of course, time is precious, and you canโt just keep searching endlessly for material to learn from. Here is where we come in to save the day. We managed to round up a list composed of top 6 YouTube channels to watch โ beginner, intermediate and expert courses for Photoshop. Seriously, anyone can try to learn this awesome program.
1. You Suck At Photoshop
MyDamnChannelย subtlety tells you that you suck at Photoshop and tries to teach you using a non-orthodox way โ by telling a story of a man, trapped in a horrible relationship, divorcing his wife, and trying to flee from the police. Itโs incredibly funny and really well detailed. It makes you try the techniques that you see, on your own photos. Of course, you wonโt get it at first, but who does? You need to persevere, get pass the fact that you donโt know anything and strive into greatness. It is for beginners, intermediates and experts alike. You can go ahead and like their Facebook page, and subscribe to their channel on YouTube. Trust me, it wonโt hurt to learn, or re-learn some stuff, and Donnie Hoyle has been doing this since 2007 โ his got some experience to back this stuff up.
2. Adobe Photoshop
Yeah, the creators of Photoshop have their very own channel on YouTube where they explain basic tips and tricks, and get into more detailed problems. Besides getting informed with new enhancements and updates, so you can stay on your toes and strive in this eat or be eaten designing world, you will also see how other famous designers, artists, commissioned by Adobe, use their product, and they use it well.
โAdobe Photoshop software is the industry standard in digital imaging and is used worldwide for design, photography, video editing and more.โ
Seriously, I am more inclined to listen to the creators of the product more than anything. You should give it a try.
3. PhotoshopMama
What is PhotoshopMama, or MamaShan?โ I have been providing training, tutorials, and some of my actions to photographers and students since 1999, as “Photoshopmama” on various forums on the Internet, and in many articles published in magazines and books. The entity of Mama Shan’s Digital Imaging Goodies LLC was formed in January 2007–with my youngest daughter, Nora Canfield who is my primary business partner and provides most of the photographs used in the tutorials. The very first product publicly launched was Mama’s Powder and has been hailed as the best and easiest to use skin action on the market, then and today! Many have since tried to replicate it, but it’s just not quite like Mama’s, the Original (created in 2003!)โ
WOW! Being in the business since 1999 is really jaw dropping. What was I doing back in 99โ? I think I was just about to get into some serious learning with my guitar, and figuring out if Ramona is worth to have as a friend or I should just dump the whole relationship. I am really picky with my friends, and objects, and all the things that surround me.
4. Pixel For Life
Pixel For Life started back in 2008 with the sole purpose of teaching newbies how to tackle Photoshop โ one pixel at a time. They have over 15,000 subscribers and over 2,5 million views. Good news if youโre a gamer. They even teach you how to make Call of Duty wallpapers. And great news if you are acquainted with Photoshop, passed the intermediate level and are planning to go deeper into designing. Pfltuts โ itโs short for Pixel for Life โ has some serious videos where you can learn how to design a website, how to design for CSM systems like Wordpress and vBulletin. With categories ranging from 3D Tutorials, CSS, Flash, HTML, Illustrator, Video Editing, and of course Photoshop Tutorials, Pixel for Life seems to be the knight in shining armor that you have been dreaming of.
5. Mike McHughโs Creative Sweet TV
This cool Aussie has been teaching YouTube users how to correctly use Photoshop since 2006, and to be more exactly the 15th of October, 2006. With over 6,000 subscribers and 1,5 million views Mike is set to get you to think out of the box, and then back into the box again, to make it bigger, refine its edges, and probably make it look thinner. From resolution basics, flash catalysts, retouching to 3D motion tracking, and panorama stitching.
6. Ch-Ch-Check It
Ch-Ch-Check It Productions has their Tutorial Tuesday | Photoshop Tutorials playlist where you can sink your teeth into some really sweet PS tips and tricks โ including some awesome Cinema 4D Tutorials, and trust me, these are really hard to come by. And Iโm not discussing the fact that there are hundreds of those on YouTube, Iโm telling you that those are terrible, and what Ch-Ch-Check It does is sublime. And no, I donโt have a problem, Iโm not babbling, thatโs their real name. Go check them out, you wonโt be disappointed.
