20 Fresh Web Design Freebies
โOur people get profit-sharing checks. I got a report the other day that says that 84 percent of our people participate in our stock purchase program, where they can buy stock at a 15 percent discount.โ – David Neeleman
There are few feelings in this world that can compare to that wonderful surge of pure win you get when you find something cool and free. We are, of course, talking about freebies. Those helpful, small (sometimes large) resources you can get, without spending a single, solitary penny.
It is no secret that we love hunting down freebies on the web, and putting them up to be displayed like trophies on a mantlepiece. We are guessing that you also enjoy browsing the web in search for great free stuff, but that can take up quite a lot of your time. Time you desperately need to meet that pesky deadline you have.
To help you save both time and money, we have made a list of some of the best fresh freebies we could find in the wild, untamed jungle that is the internet. Sit back, enjoy, and download to your heart’s contempt.
1. Nemo: A Free WordPress Theme Perfect for Apparel Stores
Powered by WordPress and WooCommerce, this theme is everything you could possibly ask for when designing an ecommerce website.
It boasts an improved and revised Turbo framework with new shortcodes and content types, a structure for both single- and multi-page layout, a recent products carousel, and more, Nemo is a fantastic helping hand when wanting to create a cool website in the shortest time possible.
2. scrollReveal.js
Scroll effects really add to a website’s look. They makes the user’s experience with the website way more fun, make him spend more time browsing it, and increases the possibility of users to come back and visit it again.
This JavaScript scroll effect looks and feels fantastic, as you can see by scrolling the website yourself, and you are free to use it in your own projects.
3. Promesh Two: A Free Athletic Font
Designed specifically for use in sports-targeted designs, Promesh Two is a really rather handsome font that you can use for free in your projects.
4. Flat Responsive Vector Mockup
Offered up by Regina Acosta, who originally did them for her own company, this is a lovely collection of mockups and wireframe art sketches, that are totally in-tune with modern trends. They look great, and we are pretty sure you will be using them a fair bit.
5. Free Modern Touch User Interface Kit
Flat design is all the rage nowadays, as you no doubt know, so there’s no way you can have too many themes, kits or what-have-yous in your toolbox.
This kit from PixelKit offers a .psd file with 6 elements for 960 grids, scalable vector graphics, free open fonts, and best of all: a commercial use license, so you can use it for paid commissioned work.
6. Vector Ribbons
Vector Ribbons is a collection of different styled ribbons that can be edited in any way you see fit. The creators themselves highly recommend this set for announcements and package designs, but they can definitely be used for a wide range of different designs, as well.
7. Focus
We adore typography, so we have made it our sworn duty to showcase as many cool collections of it as we can. Here we have a marvelous soft font designed by Edigio Filippetti, and it is great for designing headlines and banners.
8. Sketch Foundation Kit
If you want to quickly mock-up a web application, then this kit is what you have been dreaming of. It is, essentially, a collection of โsymbolsโ, ready to be used in your own projects.
We found Stephen’s (the maker of this kit) short presentation of Psychohistorians tremendously entertaining, and would encourage him to give us more, like a novel.
9. 2 Free Responsive Templates from TemplateMonster.com
Not one, but two premium templates, offered up for the price of nothing. Both of them have .psd and .html resources, making them easy to browse from any device.
10. Sign In [PSD]
This one is going on our list for the novelty value. It is a simple sign in form, that you can use to practice when creating your own.
11. Velositey
Cutting some time from making your websites layout can really speed up the process of actually creating, and getting the website online. Velositey lets you prototype the design in seconds, being made by designers for designers.
12. Free iPhone Vector Wireframing Toolkit
We don’t need to tell how popular iPhones are, so we’ll just leave this toolkit here, and say โyou’re welcome!โ.
13. Free Web Design Resources PSD
A collection of a few cleanly-designed, fully customizable elements you can use totally free.
14. Flank Font
Typography finds its way, yet again, on our list. This time it is an uppercase font that would look absolutely gorgeous on a header or logo.
15. Moderne Sans
Inspired by the 1920’s fontfamilies, this font is based on uppercase letter, but it does have both lowercase and uppercase letters, meaning you can use it for virtually anything.
The letters are clean and easy to read, and they have a real retro-newspaper look about them, so they would look absolutely gorgeous on a classy, vintage-design website.
16. Web Design UI Elements
Yet another entry on our list from PixelKit, this set of UI elements, called Arctic Sunset, gives you all the features and elements you might need to create a stunning, clean website. It has elements for everything a website might need, including filters and forms.
17. Meroo: A Gorgeous Flat-Styled Icon Set
You can’t make a proper freebie list without including at least one icon set. Meroo is more than just a mandatory icon set on our list, it really is a collection of great looking icons that are completely free to use.
Also, the pack comes in .psd format, so you can edit and modify them anyway you like, making them easy to implement in your designs.
18. Full Layered Sign In/Up Flow Free PSD
The first sign in form was for practice, but this one you can actually use in your designs. It is made to mimic iOS login style, and it comes in .psd, so you can play around with it to make it match your designs.
19. Payment Webfont
We said โat leastโ one. The second icon pack on our list is a bit different, being targeted specifically at ecommerce websites. You can’t have a proper online store without payment method icons, it would just look shabby.
20. Get a Mini Web Bundle Worth 100+ Dollars for Free
We won’t waste your time telling you exactly why this bundle is cool. Instead, we will just list all of the things you are getting absolutely free by downloading it: two fully responsive templates (one WordPress, one HTML5) and a coming soon page with three templates, one video player, and one audio player. Oh, and each item also gets a help file.
That wraps up our list of fresh freebies to help you out in your web designs. We hope you will find the items on our list useful, and that they will help you create awesome websites for us to browse the day away.

Great resources. Thanks a lot for sharing!
Make sure your text and background has the proper contrast. There’s evidence showing that white text on a black background is easiest for most people to read, but other colors are fine so long as they’re readable. Also keep in mind that people with visual impairments may not be able to read your site if the contrast is poor.
