Culture is based on the old and the new. Mankind’s progress is, essentially, taking what already is there, then adding on top of it. Sometimes, at least. We are, perhaps, the only species on our planet capable creating art, and we have been doing so for tens of thousands of years. Given that we have been at it for such a long time, you could say we have gotten pretty good at it.

Street art is quite possibly the most important artistic development in the last 100 years. It has effectively made art something anyone can experience and, indeed, go out of their way not to experience it, bringing it out on the streets. Street art has its roots in graffiti, which was closely connected to hip-hop culture, starting in the 1960’s and becoming truly popular at the same time as hip-hop, in the 1980’s.

Watercolor painting is, for most of us, the very first art form we are introduced to. It is through watercolors that people discover their passion and skill for visual arts, and that first experience with creating something totally new from nothing is the feeling that all artists chase after every time they create new works. Watercolor painting begins its history as an art medium in the 15th century, during the time of the Renaissance.
