Now, what is he trying to say with this? Is he mocking the rebellion?
A mutt like me, or the ADOPT poster was made for the Adopt-a-pet.com and its campaign for adopting animals. Fairey said:
“Pia (Dr. Pia salk, an advocate who works with Adopt-a-pet.com) simply asked if I might be willing to collaborate on a way to have my art help these animals.
As most of you know, I’m a big believer in speaking up for all who suffer injustice, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation or in this case, species! And I’m all for adopting from the shelter. My wife and I share our home with 2 pooches, George and Weezie, who is a rescue. They are the happy canine siblings to our 2 human daughters.
If you look at the adopt-a-pet kind of way, there is no problem with the ADOPT, poster looking the same as the OBAMA poster. It’s just a mean to identify really quick the artists work and to gain trust, because you know he has portrayed before and had success. On a basic level.
But, what if you can’t see this in the adopt-a-pet kind of way? You immediately look at the ADOPT poster as a mock of the OBAMA one. Is he trying to mock the movement he has produced with the obama poster and all that it stands for? Why would he?
